Host/Hostess

Reports To: Front of House Manager 

 

Overview

Host / Hostess is to be the first point of contact for our guests. Responsibilities include greeting guests, providing accurate wait times and escorting customers to the dining and bar areas. Must have solid organizational and people skills to ensure our patrons have a positive dining experience from the moment they arrive until their departure. Must be able to work in shifts. 

 

Responsibilities and Duties

 

  • Present proper personal hygiene. Clean body and proper, clean uniform. 

  • Set up and prepare Host station / Service area for upcoming shift. 

  • Welcome guest to the restaurant in a friendly, positive manner. 

  • Provide accurate wait times and monitor waiting lists. 

  • Take and Manage reservations both in person and over the phone or internet. 

  • Escort customer to assigned dining or bar areas. 

  • Provide menus and announce name of Wait staff crew member attending to them. 

  • Thank customers upon their departure. 

  • Coordinate with wait staff about available seating options. 

  • Maintain a clean, organized reception area. 

  • Answer incoming calls and address customer’s queries. 

  • Assist wait staff as needed. 

  • Perform all closing side work including cleaning, restocking, and setting up the Host / Service area for next shift. 

  • Cleaning, Restocking, and maintaining Bath rooms. 

  • Properly clocking in and out using POS system.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Previous proven work experience as a Host / Hostess in a fast paced restaurant. 

  • Understanding of restaurant etiquette. 

  • Experience in taking a managing reservations. 

  • Demonstrable customer- service skills. 

  • Excellent communication skills (via phone, internet, and in-person). 

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to monitor the entire dining and bar areas. 

  • Availability to work in shifts as needed. 

  • Good physical condition to walk and stand during an entire shift. 

  • Perform all closing side work including cleaning, restocking, and setting up the Host / Service area for next shift. 

  • Cleaning, Restocking, and maintaining Bath rooms. 

  • Properly clocking in and our utilizing the POS system.
